Aim and Scope

Journal of Korean Academy of Advanced General Dentistry (JKAAGD) is the official publication of the Korean Academy of Advanced General Dentistry. It was first launched in August 2012 (ISSN 2287-559x). As an open access, peer reviewed journal, JKAAGD aims to publish clinical and sci- entific research papers based on evidence-based investiga- tions within all areas of contemporary dental practice. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, case reports, technical reports, and short communications from the readers in subjects related with comprehensive dentistry

Manuscript Submission

Submitted manuscripts must be written in Korean or English. Manuscripts are subject to peer review process followed by editorial revision. For consideration of publication in JKAAGD, authors should follow the submission guidelines below. By submitting a paper authors agree that the work has not been published before and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Each reader must determine whether to act on the information contained in the publication, and neither JKAAGD nor its sponsoring organizations shall be liable for any injury or damage occurred due to the publication of erroneous information. Manuscripts should be word-processed and submitted by online submission system. The body of the text, not including the abstract, references, tables, or illustrations, should not exceed 15 pages in length for research articles, and 7 pages for clinical articles. Figures and tables should be supplied as separate files. Remove all evidence of authorship from an electronic submission file, in order to expedite the review process. Terms in manuscripts in Korean should be listed in Dental Terminology edited by Korean Academy of Dental Sciences and Korean Dental Association. Manuscripts will normally be reviewed by the editor-inchief and at least two reviewers with expertise within the scope of the article. The final publication decision lies with the Editorial Board. Accepted manuscripts will be copy edited according to the Journal style and returned to the author for approval before publication. Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work, including changes made by the copy editor. The publisher reserves the right to edit accepted manuscripts to en- sure conciseness, clarity, and stylistic consistency, subject to the author‟s final approval. More detailed information will be notified with an acceptance letter. Authors should also indicate the affiliation and title of the author when submitting a paper. If the author belongs to a university or hospital, specify the professor, lecturer, clinical fellow, student, and postdoctoral researcher, along with the name of your university or hospital. If the author belongs to elementary or secondary school, specify the name of the school and the student/ teacher. If you do not have affiliation or status, only the name is displayed.

Proofs and Reprints

The corresponding author will receive pages of proofs, which should be proofread and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Corrections are limited to publisher‟s errors; no substantial author‟s changes will be made without charge. Reprints can be ordered from the publisher. The publisher does not stock reprints; however, back issues can be purchased.

Ethics

Typescripts that contain the results of human or animal studies will be accepted for publication only if it is made clear that a high standard of ethics was applied in carrying out the investigations. In the case of invasive studies using human subjects, manuscripts should include a statement that the research protocol was approved by the local ethics committee. For the publication ethics not stated in this instruction, „Good Publication Practice Guidelines for Medical Journals (http://kamje.or.kr/publishing_ethics.html)‟ or „Guidelines on good publication (http://www.publicationethics.org.uk/guidelines)‟ can be applied.

State the source of research funding, if any, at the lower part.
  2. Abstract
A structured abstract of 250~300 words or less is preferred. Briefly state the purpose of the study, materials and methods, result and conclusion. At the bottom of the abstract, provide up to less than six keywords that best describe the content of the study. Select them preferably form the list of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) used by the National Library of Medicine.
  3. Introduction

  4. Materials and Methods
Describe the experimental design procedures and material/ subjects used. Give the details only if the methods are original or essential for understanding; otherwise, give references. Patients, tested animals and the control group should be stated clearly. In particular, the means to identify the subject disease and to control the author‟s subjective views should be explained. The names and manufacturers of the devices, materials and reagents for the test should be included in parenthesis. The authors should describe the generic name, dosage, and administration method of drug and chemical agents used. The patients‟ private information should not be exposed. The human study and animal research should be approved by local ethics committee. Indicate the statistical methods used, if applicable.

If there are six or less authors in a reference, then all the names of the authors should be listed. If the number of authors is more than six, list the initial six authors and then abbreviate the rest of the authors with 'et al'. Follow the format for references in “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals” (Ann Intern Med 1997;126:36-47); http://www.icmje.org. 10. Legends of photographs and illustrations
Legends should be written in English on a separate page. When symbols, arrows, numbers, or letters are used to identify parts of the photographs and illustrations, identify and explain each one clearly in the legend. If a figure has been previously published, the legend should fully acknowledge the original source. Ensure all the figures have been mentioned sequentially in the text.
  11. Tables and Graphs
Do not embed tables in the body of the text. Number tables consecutively in the order in which they are cited in the text and provide a brief title for each. Be sure that each table is cited in the text. Explain all nonstandard abbreviations in footnotes.
